Together we lead: Celebrating Wamarra’s 2025 Bulabul graduates

  • Who we are

At Symal, we believe in empowering our people to lead with confidence, culture, and purpose. In April, that belief was brought to life as Wamarra—a proud Aboriginal-owned business within the Symal Group—celebrated the graduation of the second cohort of its Bulabul Development Program.

Named after the Wiradjuri word for “together,” Bulabul is more than a leadership course. It’s a six-month, in-house program designed and delivered by Wamarra to support current and emerging leaders. The program builds capability across teams, strengthens communication and decision-making, and inspires personal and professional growth.

This year’s graduates embraced the journey with honesty, dedication and a willingness to grow—laying strong foundations not just for themselves, but for the people they’ll go on to lead.

Congratulations to the 2025 Bulabul graduates:

Matthew Clark, Luke Dalvean, Tori Kellett, Matthew Ryan, Jake Weston, Ryan White, and Tom Yensch.

Wamarra’s decision to develop and deliver this program internally speaks to its genuine and ongoing commitment to investing in people. As a certified Aboriginal business, Wamarra is leading by example—growing confident, capable leaders who will carry forward a culture of strength, support and shared success.

For Matthew Clark, the experience was about becoming a more empathetic leader. “I’ve learned to listen more and adapt to different situations. I feel at home at Wamarra and hope to be a coach and mentor to others in the business,” he said.

Luke Dalvean shared how the program helped him grow personally and professionally. “There are still areas to improve on,” he reflected, “but I’m heading in the right direction.”

Coming from an education background, Tori Kellett wasn’t sure where she fit in the construction industry. But Bulabul gave her the confidence to take her place. “I’ve enhanced my decision-making skills and hope to inspire other women in construction,” she said.

Jake Weston spoke about the influence of Wamarra’s leaders and their impact on his own development. “I joined the program to be a respected leader at Wamarra and grow as part of the team,” he said.

These reflections are just a glimpse into the powerful impact of Bulabul. The graduates’ stories are proof that leadership isn’t about a title—it’s about mindset, accountability and a drive to support others.

We’re proud of Wamarra’s future leaders and look forward to seeing how they continue to shape the business, the industry, and their communities.
